Global Leadership Immersion Program

Local, National, and International Opportunities

Immersion experiences challenge students to engage the realities of the world while reflecting on the values of human dignity and servant leadership.

Cultural immersion experiences are 7- to 10- day structured experiences traveling to domestic and international locations where students are immersed in the day-to-day issues and root causes of a range of social justice issues experiencing unique cultures and environments. Students engage in cultural activities, participate in experiential learning, and make educational site visits – while living in the very communities that they are serving.

Our Global Leadership Immersion Program is rooted in five pillars reflective of our Benedictine heritage: education, service, social justice, community, and spirituality. Student participants are invited to grow in each of these areas during the experience preparation, the immersion itself, and the post-experience reflection.

In addition to the weeklong program, preparation and post-immersion experiences are an opportunity for students to learn and reflect about the people, issues, and realities they encounter, and can provide a way for a one-week program to become a lifetime transformation.

Each year SGHS will create several experiences allowing students to immerse themselves in other cultures and gain a better understanding of issues facing people around our community, state, country and the world. Local, regional, and international travel will be components of the program.

During the summer of 2018, SGHS will offer three immersion program options, one local, one national, and one international. To learn more, please select a program to the right.
