JV Lacrosse coaches and team members after their first game this week.
The lacrosse teams have had a busy week! On Tuesday, the Varsity team earned a big win over Covenant School, which was a team they lost to earlier in the season! The Varsity played back to back and hosted St. John Paul the Great on Wednesday, with both Varsity and JV falling to the visitors. The JV’s game was a really great start for that squad! Both teams will travel to Charlottesville today, Friday March 29 to face highly ranked Saint Anne’s Belfield.
The varsity softball team played a tough game with St. John Paul the Great on Tuesday, March 26th, losing 4-5 in extra innings! Every game the Gators are improving! They followed that battle up with hosting a tough Collegiate School team on Wednesday. Next Monday, April 1, the squad will make up a rain out game at St. Margaret’s School before facing Saint Anne’s Belfied at home on Tuesday, April 2.
The Varsity soccer team dropped a game at Collegiate on Tuesday, March 26 but has a chance at redemption as they take on Fredericksburg Christian today, Friday, March 29 at the SGHS OAC. Next week the team will face the James River Eagles on Tuesday, April 2 before away games vs Veritas School and Virginia Episcopal.
The Outdoor track & field heads to its first meet tomorrow, Saturday, March 30 at Manchester High School. Next weekend, the Gators will travel with the Cadets to a meet at Woodberry Forest on Saturday, April 6.
The Golf team played in its first match this week at Meadowbrook Country Club and finished behind St. Catherine’s and Steward School. A team highlight on the season is Isabella Riley (pictured) getting her first birdie of the season in practice recently! Next week, Gators will have a match on Wednesday, April 3 at Sycamore Creek.
Are you interested in volunteering in the concessions stand at the OAC? As the weather starts to warm up, we will be opening up the snack bar and would welcome anyone who would like to help! Please email, Fran Pochily to discuss your available dates!
Middies Lacrosse and Softball are in full swing as well with games beginning for both sports! The Lacrosse teams have earned wins over Collegiate and St. Michael’s! The softball team took on St. Catherine’s on Thursday, March 28 and earned a big, 14-6 victory!
