Job Description: Art Teacher
Classification: Full Time, Salaried, Exempt
Reports to: Dean of Faculty and Academics

Job Summary:
Saint Gertrude High School seeks an enthusiastic, talented, and committed Art teacher for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Key Responsibilities:
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate personal artistic skill, a creative and open-minded approach to instruction, and a flexible and collaborative orientation.
  • The Art teacher will excel in planning and delivering innovative instruction to develop students’ skills; nurturing creative expression; utilizing appropriate technology to facilitate instruction; guiding and evaluating student portfolios; collaborating with faculty and staff on a variety of projects; using differentiated learning instruction, and other duties as assigned.
  • Core duties for this position include teaching Honors Portfolio Art, Ceramics, Graphic Design, Painting, Drawing and Introduction to Art.
  • This person oversees the scheduling and installation of exhibitions in the SGHS art gallery.
  • This full-time faculty position reports to the Dean of Faculty and Academics.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in Art, Masters degree preferred
  • Valid Virginia teaching license
  • Relevant classroom experience in grades 9-12, independent school experience preferred
  • Proficiency in the use of computer software and programs including Google Apps for Education

Job Description:  Finance Assistant
Classification:  Part- or full-time, Non-exempt
Reports to:  Finance Manager

Job Summary:
Saint Gertrude High School is seeking a finance assistant who will report to the Finance Manager.  This person will work in various areas of finance including accounts receivable, accounts payable, bank operations, and budget analyses.  This can be a part-time or full-time position depending on the candidate. If full-time, the employee could be eligible for customary employee benefits as described in the Employee Handbook.
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintain all records for accounts payable vendors and process vendor payments on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain student accounts and apply tuition payments as received.
  • Preparation of bank deposits for all accounts.
  • Record credit card receipts several times per week.
  • Record bi-monthly payroll journal entry and process payments for employee deposits to retirement accounts and health savings accounts.
  • Respond to faculty/staff questions regarding account balances.
  • Respond to parent requests for modifications to tuition payment schedule.
  • Manage distribution of re-enrollment packages and process contracts/deposits as they are returned.
  • Maintain and create year-end reports for auditors and periodic budget reports for department chairs/directors as required.
  • Back up for Finance Manager in processing payroll.
  • Update statistical spreadsheets.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Title: Administrative Assistant to Deans

Job Summary
The Administrative Assistant works with the Dean of Faculty and Academics and the Dean of Student Life across a wide range of responsibilities supporting their work with students, their families, faculty, staff and community members. S/he is required to handle confidential and sensitive situations and materials with diplomacy, and to maintain good judgment while acting calmly in a difficult, emergency or crisis situation. This is a full-time position and the employee is eligible for benefits as described in the School’s Employee Handbook.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Provides comprehensive administrative, secretarial, and clerical support to the Dean of Faculty and Academics and Dean of Student Life.
  • Organizes, coordinates, schedules, and performs a wide variety of office functions and activities related to the administration of diverse academic and student-related programs.
  • Assists the Deans in the preparation and maintenance of reports and analyses through researching, compiling and organizing information.
  • Supports the coordination and transmission of both written and electronic communications from the Deans, independently composing, proofreading and editing letters, memoranda, reports and notices as tasked.
  • Compiles and electronically publishes Friday Footnotes, the weekly news and information document that circulates to the entire school community.
  • Schedules appointments, meetings and conferences as requested by the Deans.
  • Creates and maintains multiple on-line calendars, including weekly schedule of school activities for use by a variety of audiences.
  • Tracks faculty sick/personal days, manages faculty absence slips, prepares semi-monthly faculty payroll reports; provides and monitors faculty/staff sign-in sheets.
  • Oversees the school’s substitute teacher program, maintaining a list of reliable and qualified substitutes, and securing substitutes for faculty as needed, often on short notice; oversees the Faculty Incentive Program.
  • Assists with maintaining faculty personnel files, including records of professional development points, and assists in the Faculty Certification/License Renewal process; schedules faculty evaluations/observations.
  • Manages monthly lunch order program for students, faculty and staff, using online ordering system and coordinates with lunch vendors.
  • Oversees student detention program and sends out disciplinary letters.
  • Coordinates the printing and mailing of Honor Roll letters.
  • Coordinates logistics for key school events, including the Back-to-School Faculty Breakfast, Parent Back to School Night, Awards Day, and Graduation.
  • Prepares and collates Christmas Letters of student comments for faculty and staff.
  • Coordinates with counselors to plan and execute the academic portion of Awards Day, including organizing and printing award certificates for academic subjects and clubs.
  • Assists in updating Student/Parent and Employee Handbooks annually.
  • Provides back-up support for the Front Office Assistant, including answering the phone, assisting students and parents, and compiling attendance records.

Supervisory Responsibility:  None.

Job Requirements:
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work effectively and efficiently in order to meet established timelines while working independently.
  • Competence in Google Apps for Education and standard office management software.  Must have the ability to effectively manage school data and operate school software systems.
  • Outstanding written (including proofreading) and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain the strictest standards of confidentiality.
  • Warm and calming personality.
