Life at Saint Gertrude

Life at Saint Gertrude Everlasting Bond of Sisterhood

According to our students, life at Saint Gertrude is an experience unlike any other. Instead of going to a school every day, they feel like they are going to their second home.

Saint Gertrude’s Student Life Program

Saint Gertrude’s student life program is designed to create a holistic learning experience for all students through rich traditions and organizations that help build leadership, confidence, and global citizenship, all while building the everlasting bond of sisterhood. The life of a Saint Gertrude student encompasses service, leadership, and spirituality. Getting involved enables our students to find friends with similar interests and experiences, gain and exercise leadership skills, and discover new passions and abilities.

We invite you to discover the life of a Gator beyond the classroom and hope you will register for a Shadow Day to see firsthand the advantages of the Saint Gertrude experience.

Leadership

We believe that leadership education belongs at every level of the school experience. Toward that end, we have incorporated an age-appropriate program of skill-building that begins with leadership workshops freshman year, and includes school wide leadership committees chaired by upperclassman.

Spiritual Life

As a school rooted in the Catholic tradition, spirituality is at the heart of a Saint Gertrude education. Students are provided with many opportunities for spiritual growth and reflection through weekly Mass, monthly chapel, annual retreats, and regular opportunities for Rosaries, Confession, and Adoration.

Community Service

Service to others is at the core of our Benedictine values, and the goal of our community service program is to inspire students to become empathetic, impactful leaders in the local and global community. In addition to individual service-learning projects, there are several school-wide service initiatives throughout the year including a joint Day of Service with our brother school.

Clubs and Activities

With several clubs to choose from, these student-run organizations are a space for students to cultivate leadership skills and teamwork. We invite you to explore the different opportunities available at Saint Gertrude. And as we tell the girls, if you don’t see a club or activity suited to your interests, start one!

Traditions

Our robust traditions support our students’ academic, social, and emotional health and help ensure a cohesive, happy culture where we stay connected to Saint Gertrude graduates across generations. One of our oldest and most treasured traditions, Song Contest, is the highlight of the school year for many.
