– The root of the word is Greek for love of mankind; kindness; benevolence.
At Saint Gertrude High School, we promote a culture of philanthropy. Parents send their girls to SGHS because they love them and want the best for them. Donors give for love of the school, its mission, and the students who are educated here.
Why do we need fundraising at Saint Gertrude High School? As an independent school, Saint Gertrude receives no funding from the Diocese of Richmond or any parishes. Therefore, we must raise all the funds we need to operate the school. While most of that comes from tuition, it takes additional funding for SGHS to be all we want it to be. The school tries to keep tuition at a level that is not only competitive, but actually lower than other independent schools in the area. Keeping tuition as affordable as possible helps to maintain enrollment and a diverse student population.
At Saint Gertrude High School, we are very fortunate to have many generous donors whose support enable the school to offer financial assistance to our most deserving students, purchase needed equipment, and provide up-to-date technology in the science labs, computer labs, and library. Saint Gertrude High School has so much to be thankful for.
Whether you decide to support The Fund for Saint Gertrude, an endowed fund, capital project, establish a planned gift, sponsor an event, or give an in-kind gift, please know that your generosity will make a positive impact on the lives of all our students.
No matter what, or how much you give, we are thankful for your support that allows us to offer a strong, college-preparatory education to our diverse group of young women.
“Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
