Drama at Saint Gertrude High School
In the theatre, students learn to create, perform, and respond as actors to convey ideas and communicate meaning, and gain practical skills for working backstage on productions.
Field trips to regional theatres and online resources connect classes to the professional world of theatre.
The Stuart Avenue Players fall musical, spring play, and student-run One Act provide multiple opportunities for all interested students to shine onstage or behind the scenes in live theatre.
Students gain practical experience and confidence, and the small school size means more openings for responsible leading roles.
Benedictine College Preparatory cadets are invited to participate in the shows and drama club activities.
Saint Gertrude provides a great start in theatre; alumnae can be found in Hollywood as actresses, behind the scenes on Broadway, directing educational programs in regional theaters, teaching theatre in schools, as theatre or drama majors in college, and as appreciative audience members in the community.
“Because we have a small school, I’ve had the opportunity to really be seen onstage in the musicals and plays.” – Bridget Mayo ’13
